Research abstract

50295-98-I W-Band Harmonic Gyro-TWT Amplifier Driver--Micramics, Inc., 2368B Walsh Avenue, , Santa Clara, CA 95051-1301; (408) 986-0238 Dr. Q.S. Wang, Principal Investigator L. Jack Craig, Business Official DOE Grant No. DE-FG03-98ER82619 Amount: $74,711 W-band drivers are needed for high power RF sources that can power future high gradient linear colliders. This project will develop a multi-purpose harmonic gyro-TWT amplifier that can stably deliver moderately high peak and high average power in W-band. The technical feasibility of a moderately high peak and high average power harmonic gyro-TWT amplifier in W-band will be examined. Amplifier design will be completed and major components will be identified and designed. Commercial Applications and Other Benefits as described by the awardee: Proposed gyro-TWT amplifier can also be used for future radar and communication systems in millimeter wave band, in which bandwidth, high directivity and resolving power are expected. It can also play an important role in commercial industrial material processing._
