Research abstract

We propose to employ an innovative diffusion process to fabricate LPE HgCdTe two color detector arrays. This diffusion process is particularly suitable for producing room temperature MWIR HgCdTe photovoltaic devices. The worldwide sales of our high quality LPE HgCdTe materials and devices for production applications warrants the success of this program. In the baseline approach, two photovoltaic detector arrays in the MWIR band will be used for producing the two color detector arrays. In the option approach, one photovoltaic detector array in the MWIR band and one photoconductive detector array in the LWIR band will be fabricated and assembled. In Phase I, detector arrays in various wavelength bands will be fabricated and tested. Based on the evaluation of these arrays, an optimal two color array will be designed. In Phase II, prototype two color modules will be manufactured. In Phase III, the product will be commercialized for the Navy in specific, and the low cost HgCdTe detectors and arrays will be marketed through our catalog sales.
