Research abstract

Dynamics Technology, Inc. (DTI) proposes to develop and adapt analytical intel/surv/recon sensor performance models to support ISR TPIPT upgrades to campaign and mission level simulations (e.g., THUNDER, EADSIM). The models will accommodate representative targets and environmental backgrounds. They will be used either directly, or to provide a physical basis for system performance templates currently used in ISR simulations. The ultimate objective is to support analyses of specific ISR strategies and system architectures, and their military utility.DTI's approach will be to employ analytical ISR models which: (1) retain the important physics that determine system performsnce, (2) are formulated as parametric models, and (3) are benchmarked against community standard high fidelity models. We will adapt existing models where appropriate, and develop new models based on validated physics formulations where warranted. A key requirement will be to produce ISR models in a form that can be integrated with mission and campaign simulations. In Phase I, DTI will define programmatic and software requirements, identify applicable models, and produce a model for one ISR sensor to demonstrate the feasiblity of the proposed approach. In Phase II, this effort will be extended to other systems as prioritized by the Air Force.
