Research abstract

This document describes a program for the efficient and affordable deisgn of the next generation of ultra-fast devices and circuits. The core of the program involves demonstrating that Scientific Research Associates, Inc. (SRA) menu accessed multiple particle quantum DENsity MATrix (DENMAT) algorithm for electrons and holes can be a successful design tool and impact on U.S. competitiveness in the electronics industry. Under the Phase I study: (1) DENMAT will be optimized, which involves improving robustness of the algorithm in a design environment; (2) DENMAT will be transitioned to a PC environment for greater accessibility to the code; (3) candidate devices and circuits then can take advantage of DENMAT's output will be selected for development, which will occur during a Phase II study; and (4) two-dimensional quantum transport calculations using DENMAT will be implemented for a simple device structure.
