Research abstract
Big Mac Enterprises, LLC’s patent pending hydrogen generator for combustion engines (H2DSL™) can provide safe fuel savings to diesel trucks, generators, and other systems. As proposed in this SBIR, the H2DSL™ can be integrated into systems fitting within Internal Airlift/Helicopter Slingable Container Units (ISUs), which represents a significant opportunity to enhance the strategic and operational capabilities of military forces. The company’s automatically controlled hydrogen generator system for internal combustion engines reduces fuel consumption by over 10%. The H2DSL™ system housing is attached to a vehicle without changing the settings or modifying the engine. Once installed, the system generates hydrogen from water and injects pure hydrogen into the engine air intake line. Hydrogen injection is well established to improve performance, extend life and reduce emissions. We propose 1. identifying the diesel fueled devices that are transported on ISUs, 2. determining if the appropriate clearances and weight are available for each device within the ISU tolerances, 3. selecting a device with Army representatives to customize the H2DSL™ (concept development stage), and 4. designing the prototype. The final deliverable will include all appropriate engineering drawings for the mounting system, case, communication protocol and specifications and as well as a preliminary engineering report.
