Research abstract

HNC and its teaming partner, the Imaging Guidance Design Laboratory of the Highes Missile Systems Company, propose to develop a neural based multi-sensor fusion system for ATR applciations. All functional modules including target segmentation, feature extraction, multi-sensor data fusion, target detection, target classification, and evidential reasoning, are either neural network based or biologically inspired. Three sensors, laser radar (LADAR), infrared (IR), and visible (TV), are considered in this proposal. During Phase I of the project, several key functional modules will be tested on the simulated and real sensor data. This neural based multi-sensor system will be capable of solving the future needs of ATR systems operating in near real-time.
