Research abstract

Diagnosis of neurological disorders such as epilepsy may soon be improved by the technical advancesarray magnetoencephalography (MEG) and electroencephalography (EEG) (Wikswo, et al. 1993). A relevanof rationed medical care is that the EEG is 10 to 100 times less expensive than the MEG or any hemodSPECT) imaging modality. Immediate application of dense sensor array EEG to the diagnosis of epilepsachieved not by source localization, which is likely to remain highly inferential, but by drawing onelectroencephalographer's interpretive skills with surface EEG through providing high-resolution wavdata. With adequate spatial sampling and spline interpolations based on realistic head geometry, thepotential characteristics the radial current density of the brain's electrical field. Phase I researinnovations in high resolution EEG with an adequate spatial sampling of the scalp EEG with EGI's 128Head Sensor Net.
