Research abstract

Space-based radar antennas require materials that are lighter weight, more flexible, and lower in cost than those used for airborne or ground-based antennas. To meet this need, Triton Systems, Inc. proposes to develop an innovative, lightweight, flexiblelarge-area electronic textile (e-textile) to interconnect antenna array elements in a space-based radar. Triton will use and further develop novel polymer compounds that demonstrated electrical conductivity, durability, and processing on textile substratesin Phase I. In Phase II, Triton will develop a unique e-textile that will electronically connect and mechanically support the antenna components for use in antennas for radar in earth orbit.
