Research abstract

Advancements in how pilots perceive and process critical approach and landing information is of great value to the aviation community. Specifically, this systems integration process provides a complementary adaptation of engineering and human factors for improving aircrew performance within a variety of shipboard environments. This performance, with regard to depth perception, recognition, visual cues and decision making, can then be modeled to establish the necessary data base for evaluating both the quality of future Visual Landing Aids Suites and the level of enhanced aircrew performance, observed or required.
