Research abstract

DOVE ELECTRONICS, INC., WILL DETERMINE WHAT MECHANISMS/PARAMETERS OF ATMOSPHERIC OPTICAL SCINTILLATIONS ARE SIGNIFICANT AND USEFUL IN MEASURING TURBULENCE AND WIND . THE PROPAGA- TION PATH WILL BE CONSIDERED TO BE LINE-OF-SIGHT. AFTER THOROUGH INVESTIGATION AND DEFINITION OF THESE PARAMETERS, HOLOGRAPHIC FILTERING TECHNIQUES FOR THEIR MEASUREMENT WILL BE STUDIED. THESE TECHNIQUES WILL INCORPORTE VERY FINE SPA-TIAL RESOLUTION. THE RESULT WILL BE PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF AHOLOGRAPHIC SPATIAL FILTER SYSTEM TO PERFORM NECESSARY FIL- TERING OF ATMOSPHERIC OPTICAL SCINTILLATIONS. VARIOUS SPA- TIAL FILTERS WILL BE EXAMINED TO DETERMINE OPTIMUM FIT TO PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS AS ESTABLISHED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE. COMPUTER IMPLEMENTATION OF A PORTION OF THE SPECIFIED SYSTEM WILL DEMONSTRATE PROOF-OF-CONCEPT.
