Research abstract

This proposal covers the development of a hybrid Brayton cycle/ membraneseparation system for VOC control. The new system design offers significantcapital and operating cost savings compared to current membrane vapor systems andcould make membrane technology competitive with alternative processes in the feedflow range up to 2,000 scfm.In the Phase I program, the overall feasibility of the new design will bedetermined in experiments with a modified membrane system, and a technical andeconomic analysis of the process will be performed. In the Phase II program, ahybrid system based on the optimum design identified in Phase I will be built andtested in the field.
