Research abstract

Not Available The objective of this research is to investigate the use of vector geographic data to enhance satellite imagery at close viewing ranges, by means of artificial creation of additional levels in the texture mipmap pyramid. Key points of the study are the application of image orthocorrection techniques to vector data and the development of high quality scanline rendering with multitap texture filtering for texture instantiation from vector data, with smooth transition facilitated by alpha blending. Aerial photographs will be used to derive geo-typical texture patterns that give the appearance of geo-specific imagery for insertion where geo-specific imagery 'smears' as the eye-point approaches.
