Research abstract

A group of at least 30 volunteers will be repeatedly screened for their ability to attract Aedes agypti mosquitoes. Individuals who are consistently least attractive and consistently most attractive to mosquitoes will be identified. Techniques and chemical traps will be revaporiezed in an olfactometer to verify relative attractancy. A second portion of the trapped emanations will be used to develop methods for gas chromatography-mass spectroscopic analysis. These techniques will ultimately be used in PHase II to identiy chemical components which differ significanly betweeen the least attractive and most attractive subjects.
