Research abstract

This project designs and tests the feasibility of the My Meals, My Way (MMMW-platform) web-based nutrition program for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (pwIDD) living independently. Project goals are to: (1) Establish the feasibility of the MMMW-platform with pwIDD, and 2) create the MMMW-platform technical specifications for the web-based nutrition program. The objectives include forming a community advisory board (CAB) of pwIDD and direct service professionals, drawn from community partners, and co-creating and testing the feasibility of the MMMW-platform with CAB members; and finalizing the MMMW-platform technical specifications. Project outcomes include established feasibility of MMMW-platform with target end-users (pwIDD), and completed technical specifications of the MMMW-platform that center independent living, nutrition, self-determination, and universal design. The MMMW-platform is expected to lead to improved dietary intake, better health, and increased independence for millions of Americans with disabilities. This project collaborates with the software developer InspiringApps.
