Research abstract

THE RELATIVE EFFECTIVENESS OF VARIOUS GRAFTING TECHNIQUES ISBEING DETERMINED AS A TIME-SAVING MEANS FOR CHANGING CULTIVARS IN NEW YORK VINEYARDS. IF SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED COMMERCIALLY, THIS PROCESS WOULD REDUCE SUBSTANTIALLY THE TIME REQUIRED TO CHANGE THE VARIETY OF GRAPE IN A VINEYARD. A REDUCTION IN TIME FROM 6 YEARS TO 2 YEARS IS CONTEMPLATED DUE TO FIELD GRAFTING RATHER THAN REMOVAL AND REPLANTING OF SITE.
