Research abstract

HIGH CRITICAL TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTING CERAMICS HOLD PROMISE FOR NUMEROUS APPLICATIONS IN ENERGY STORAGE, COMMUNICATIONS AND SENSING TECHNOLOGIES. HOWEVER, TECHNICALPROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FABRICATION AND PROCESSING OF THESE MATERIALS MUST FIRST BE OVERCOME. THIS RESEARCH PROJECT APPLIES ELECTROCHEMICAL DEPOSITION TO THE PROBLEMS OF PROCESSING THALLIUM GROUP SUPERCONDUCTING CERAMICS CONTAINING NON-RARE EARTH ELEMENTS. IF SUCCESSFUL, THESE NONAQUEOUS TECHNIQUES COULD QUICKLY TAKE DEVELOPMENTS IN CERAMIC SUPERCONDUCTORS FROM THE LABORATORY TO THE MARKETPLACE.
