Research abstract

Ground moving target indicator (GMTI) radar provides continuous wide area surveillance coverage and precision tracking of ground moving vehicles. However, there are multiple scenarios, which can be grouped into loss of data and excessive data problems, inwhich tracks can be broken. These tracks may or may not be generated again once the data problems are resolved. This results in target identification confusion. ORINCON's Phase I work has proved the effectiveness of a Target ID Manager (TIM) enabledtracking system to solve the identification problem. The solution, however has constraints on target speed and aspect angle. ORINCON will continue development of a feature processor to mitigate the feature processor constraints. Once complete, the newfeature processor designs integrate easily into the already proven system. In addition to continued feature processor development, the feature algorithms will be used to construct a performance model for the target identification portion of the killchain.
