Research abstract
This project aims to develop distributed management technologies for emerging high-performance distributed information systems including: - an object-oriented management model unifying the management of computing and communication resources - mechanisms for uniform access to management instrumentation of heterogeneous resources - a management policy scripting language - a distributed policy runtime environment These technologies would provide: - uniform management of heterogeneous resources for improved efficiency - improved utilization and availability of distributed systems - open-ended scalability and interoperability of management - programmable, policy-based, automated management These technologies will be applied to manage an ATM-based cluster of workstations. Success in this project would mean that we have developed solutions to new management problems which are central to emerging high-performance distributed information systems.
