Research abstract

The objective of this project is to develop an accurate, low cost, miniaturized six DOF accelerometer for use in evaluating injury potential of aircraft crew escape systems. The six DOF accelerometer will be capable of measuring linear and angular accelerations about three orthogonal axes. Advances techniques to minimize measurement errors arising from cross axis interference, bias offset, thermal drift, and others will be employed. In addition, reliable calibration techniques will be developed and a calibration fixture will be identified.
