Research abstract
"This program will produce a sensor-fuzed ROIC design that combines three sensor types onto a single silicon die that will be fabricated in the Phase II effort. This proposal will detail the steps required to design a dual-band infrared/LADAR ROIC that offers many operational advantages including:- Single and Dual Color Operation- Independently adjustable integration times per color- Simultaneous photocharge integration and output sourcing for both colors- MWIR/MWIR, MWIR/LWIR or LWIR/LWIR operation with appropriate hybridized detector array- On-FPA temporal noise filtering and other mathematical operations- On-FPA 1 GHz phase-locked loop for LADAR timebase- On-FPA range resolution circuitry to produce 6 inch range resolution at ranges of up to 10 kilometers- High-speed analog front-end for LADAR stage using avalanche photodiodes.Recent designs provide the technical basis for this proposal, and a test chip will be fabricated in this Phase I to help verify the basis for a following Phase II design. Nova will significantly advance the state-of-the-art in mixed-mode FPA functionalitywith this technology development effort. This proposal demonstrates Nova's capability in designing, testing and integrating a new generation of innovative sensing technologies based on a variety of operational successes. The advanced capabilities provided by this new multi-mode infrared FPA device will allow seeker systems to be made with lower power, lower m
