Research abstract
"The complexity of the modern battlespace and the extent of information supplied bymodern sensors makes traditional methods of data display ineffective for efficientdecision making. For the present effort, alternative approaches will be studiedbased upon three recent advances in technology, specifically (1) automatic trackingtechnology, including multiple hypothesis tracking and optimal estimation approaches;(2) real time data visualization techniques, including parametric object building, made possible by advances in graphics hardware; and (3) Network-based informationdissemination, including person-to-person and system-to-system collaboration. The targeted military benefit is improved decision making in the ground movingtarget sensor environment, and more generally in complex battlespaces. Commercialapplications include weather prediction from voluminous weather sensor data andfinancial analysis and prediction in very complex financial data environments."
