Research abstract

The Phase II effort would continue with the development of feeds to cover the satellite and communications bands ranging from X through Q bands. The feeds are designed with Coaxial cavity radiators covering the individual frequency bands of interest. Theresearch suggests that one or more feeds could be developed to retrofit on the current HDR antenna to provide additional capability. Our Phase II effort would develop prototype feeds and retrofit onto an existing antenna. The research into the use ofthese antennas as feeds for reflector can show potential uses in other areas that require broadband communications capability in a small space. These antennas have proven to be capable radiators from a very compact arrangement. The applications in theautomotive industry for collision avoidance or communications are also possiblities.
