Research abstract

SOIL CONTAMINATION BY TOXIC WASTES HAS DESTROYED SIGNIFICANTVALUABLE LAND ACREAGE. RECENT DEVELOPMENT OF SOIL REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES PERMITS RECLAMATION OF MUCH LOST LAND FOR PRODUCTIVE USES. THE PROPOSED RESEARCH WILL INVESTIGATE REVEGETATION METHODS WHICH WILL COMPLETE THE SOIL DETOXIFICATION PROCESS AND PERMANENTLY STABILIZE THE RECLAIMED SOIL. UNDER PHASE I, GREENHOUSE TESTS WILL BE CONDUCTED ON TEST CROPS GROWN ON CONTAMINATED SOILS AND CHEMICALLY PRETREATED FOR PARTIAL DETOXIFICATION.
