Research abstract

GALLIUM ARSENIDE ANALOG PREPROCESSING ELECTRONICS (GAPE) AREPROPOSED FOR SPACEBORNE INFRARED ASTRONOMICAL TELESCOPE PROJECTS. TOP-VU PROPOSES AN INTEGRATED ANALOG ELECTRONIC WHICH USES GAAS LINEAR INTEGRATED CIRCUITS FOR DETECTOR READOUT AND SIGNAL CONDITIONING/PROCESSING. THE GAAS LINEAR ICS ARE TO PROVIDE RELIABLE OPERATION AT CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURES WITH REGARD TO FREEZ-OUT AND RADIATION HARDNESS. THE MERITS OF THE PROPOSED CONCEPTS WILL BE EVALUATED: 1. GAAS LINEAR INTEGRATED CIRCUITS (ANALOG MICROCELLS) IN PERFORMING VARIOUS SIGNAL PREPROCESSING FUNCTIONS, AND 2. GAPE ARCHITECTURE USING GAAS ANALOG MICROCELLS. THE SUCCESS OF THE GAPE CONCEPT WILL IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCEOF SPACE BORNE IR TELESCOPES INCLUDING HIGH DENSITY, LOW POWER, HIGH SPEED AND RELIABLE OPERATION AT CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURES.
