Research abstract

THIS RESEARCH WILL INVESTIGATE THE FEASIBILITY OF DEVELOPINGA HYPERMEDIA-BASED INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES. HYPERMEDIA TECHNOLOGY UTILIZES A VARIETY OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA, INCLUDING TEXT SCANNERS, TO PRESENT INFORMATION (NOT NECESSARILY SEQUENTIALLY ARRANGED) TO USERSOF THE SYSTEM. ITS MAJOR BENEFIT IS SPEED AND EASE OF ACCESS. IN THIS PROJECT, TECHNOVATION TRAINING, INC., WILL DEVELOP A SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS BENEFICIARIES TO OBTAIN ELIGIBILITY, COVERAGE, AND REIMBURSEMENT INFORMATION ABOUT THE MEDICARE PROGRAM. IT IS KNOWN THAT THE PROGRAM IS COMPLEX AND THAT BENEFICIARIES HAVE PROBLEMS UNDERSTANDING IT. IT IS ALSO KNOWN THAT ANSWERS TO SPECIFIC BENEFICIARY QUESTIONS CAN BECOME DIFFICULT DUE TO THE ELIGIBILITY COVERAGE AND/OR REIMBURSEMENT RULES. IT IS HOPED THAT THIS SYSTEM CAN MAKE ACCURATE INFORMATION MUCH MORE AVAILABLE TO BENEFICIARIES.
