Research abstract

THE PURPOSE OF THIS WORK IS TO DEVELOP THE TECHNOLOGY FOR DESIGNING AND MANUFACTURING HIGH-PERFORMANCE AND HIGH-RELIABILITY MICROFLUIDIC COMPONENTS. IN THE PHASE I PORTION OF THE WORK, THE EMPHASIS IS ON MICROFLUIDIC DEVICE MODELING AND ON MICROFABRICATION METHODS. ONE TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION CONSISTS OF THE EXTENSIVE USE OF MICROMACHINING TECHNOLOGY TO CONSTRUCT AN INTEGRATED FLUIDIC SYSTEM. THE MINIATURIZATION AND INTEGRATION OF FLUIDIC DEVICES CAN GREATLY EXPAND THE USEFULNESS OF FLUIDICS.
