Research abstract

In this SBIR effort, ORINCON is proposing application of innovative fusion concepts to a mission of interest. In particular, we are addressing the JOINT STARS mission that exploits integration of off-board sources such as unmanned serial vehicles (UAVs), airborne warning and control systems (AWACS), and RIVET JOINT. This is one of the goals of the Off-board Augmented Theater Surveillance program at Rome Laboratory. The innovative fusion concepts we propose to design and develop are: 1) noncooperative target sensor registration (NCTSR) to handle off-board reports/tracks that are biased from truth due to unknown platform and sensor alignment errors; 2) the ability to process time correlated track reports that are sent over to the fusion node from an off-board tracking system; and 3) the development of a Bayesian classification algorithm to exploit parameter attribute and classification clues from various reporting systems. Each of these designs will be integrated into an existing multiple hypothesis tracking (MHT) algorithm that has been developed at ORINCON over a period of 10 years. The final integrated MRT design will then undergo preliminary testing against Rome Laboratory-approved test scenarios that are representative of JOINT STARS missions. Results and recommendations will then be summarized in a final test report.
