Research abstract
Modern livestock production is and always has been, dependent upon secure fencing. Similar vertical support systems - for example trellises in viticulture, pilings in aquaculture and uprights in horticulture - are equally crucial to other agricultural endeavors. These structures have traditionally been made from wood that is preserved against decay by the infusion of copper, chromate and arsenic. The subject technology offers an environmentally-superior alternative to chemically treated wooden fence posts and/or vertical supports; its patented technology is centered on the creation of a hollow post made from 100% recycled agricultural or other plastic. Manufactured with low-energy high-pressure extrusion methodology, the product offers compelling advantages over pressure treated posts, including: lighter weight, variability in after-construction height, ease of ground insertion, insulation so as to permit electrification of wires, greater tensile strength, absence of
potential environmental degradation, and longer product life.
