Research abstract

Charged particles passing through a modulated structure with time periodic crossing of its interfaces may emit photons of near monochromatic wavelength related to the particle velocity and the interface spacing of the modulated structure. The spatially dispersed photons will contain information on the velocity and the direction of the impinging particles, even though the impingement is localized and distant from the detector. This proposal describes a search for the near monochromatic radiation resulting from protons striking a thin firm modulated structure, to test this concept.
