Research abstract

The bandwidth required to drive infrared (IR) emitter arrays, usedin hardware-in-the-loop simulators, has been increasingexponentially. Advanced mega-pixel arrays are taxing thecontrollers, pixel buffers and processing electronics needed todrive these arrays. As array resolution and frame rates increase, the bandwidth required to drive these arrays will only increase.InterSpace, Inc. has developed a unique array driver architecturethat satisfies current bandwidth requirements of IR emitterarrays, and offers an expandable memory capacity, bandwidth, andfunctionality. By taking advantage of recent advances inhigh-speed mega-cell field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) andhigh bandwidth-high capacity memories, InterSpace, Inc. willdevelop an IR emitter array driver with sufficient bandwidth andflexibility to meet the needs of current and future arrays.
