Research abstract

NOVEL TECHNOLOGY IS USED TO ADJUST THE RELATIVE VELOCITY OF SPRAYS OR JETS OF SOLVENT TO AUGMENT THE ABILITY OF SPRAY DROPLETS TO TRANSFER MOMENTUM TO PARTICULATE CONTAMINATION ON SURFACES, EMPHASIZING SUBMICRON CONTAMINATION OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. CARBON DIOXIDE SPRAYS ARE USED IN THIS RESEARCH AS REPLACEMENTS FOR CFC SOLVENTS NOW BEING PHASED OUT OF USE. IN ADDITION TO MEETING ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS OF THE CLEAN AIR ACT OF 1990, THIS REPLACEMENT TECHNOLOGY SHOWS PROMISE OF IMPROVED PERFORMANCE AND OPERATING ECONOMICS.
