Research abstract

This research investigates the feasibility of producing a metal coating with the potential of withstanding the eqivalent of 2000 hours in 5% neutral salt spray with no significant corrosion failure and no penetrating scratches due to handling. The following aspects of the coating procedure are experimentally evaluated: (1) Pretreatment of the aluminum hardware. (2) Use of undercoats to reduce corrosion. (3) Multilayered coating strategies. (4) Post-treatments, sealants. (5) Tests for the prediction of the coating performance.
