Research abstract

During Phase I MARK Resources demonstrated that it is feasible to track targets thatmove intermittently by associating signatures extracted from short-duration images, regardless of the target's orientation and whether the target is stopped or moving. The key elements of the technology we developed are the proper selection of theusable part of each radar dwell and the analysis of individual responses in thecomplex image without the use of a target model. During Phase II, we propose todevelop an automated prototype system that provides superior tracking performanceby associating signatures of moving and stationary ground vehicles detected in aseries of intermittent radar dwells, which may be from different radar modes andplatforms. We will also, in cooperation with Lockheed Martin, determine implicationsfor scheduling radar surveillance modes and dwells.
