Research abstract

The goal of this SBIR effort has been to extend the relevance of SIGINT information to operators without extensive training in that domain. The Phase I contract produced a working demonstration of an innovative Threat Warning System prototype thatprocessed SIGINT information acquired via a bodyworn antenna vest and provided the operator with a visual display of the immediate threat environment via a highly intuitive geospatial display. A final report was provided at Phase I completion whichprovided an introduction to our proposed system architecture for Phase II. Key attributes of the Phase II architecture include: (a) robust solution with the ability to operate effectively under adverse conditions, and (b) highly flexible/ configurableframework that facilitates the addition, replacement, or upgrade of capabilities/technologies as they become available or mature. Our Phase II initiative focuses on evolving our Phase I concepts, architecture and prototype into a deployable solution.Next Century again has teamed with Southwest Research Institute for the Phase II effort proposed herein. Next Century's expertise in user interface design, software architecture, battlefield mapping, and image exploitation is well complemented by SwRI'sextensive expertise in the SIGINT domain, yielding a powerful combination of skills for this Phase II initiative.
