Research abstract

Wanlass Industries Inc. (WI) proposes to improve the probability of kill (Pk) of a 5-inch air-to-surface missile by incorporating an innovative GPS receiver and phase processing system. By limiting the data used from the GPS transmission to relative phase, frequency and innovative interpretation of the modulation waveform, we plan to develop a receiver with an extremely fast time to first fix for missile body coordinate frame navigation. For the Improved Missile Postitioning, Attitude Sensing and Targeting (IMPAST) application, our GPS carrier phase processing is designed to maintain the guidance solution established during a limited target emitter tracking time. For SBIR Phase I, We will develop software simulations to determine the improvements in Pk with improved missile relative state information and the robustness of the phase processing system in the missile's dynamic environment. WI will also conduct laboratory experiments to confirm the feasililty of its proprietary GPS waveform processing technique.
