Research abstract

Fleet commands have an immediate need for an enclosure that will enhance the work performance in aircraft carriers specifically on the flight decks during schedueled upkeep and maintenance periods. The enclosure should be portable, modular, high windcapable and permit establishment of an environmentally controlled work area that will allow the required maintenance to be conducted without ambient temperature and humidity challenges. With a controlled environment the quality of work will be significatlyenhanced and consistent. Delays in preparation and actual maintenance associated with weather changes will be reduced. Commercial application in part will be optimized in commercial ship deck work such as for pipe and pipe manifold installation andrepairs, other time consuming deck work where weather may be a costly problem in time and man hours. Also, for pipe line contractors and and exterior fabrication such as industrial plants where temporary fabrication on site is required.
