Research abstract
We will test, in rabbits, implants that slowly release antiproliferative drugs that could improve tocular surgery. In one case the objective is to inhibit the growth of residual lens epithelium aftersurgery, and in another to prevent the sealing up of the drainage pathway by fibroblast activity aftoperation. The primary drug to be tested is Daunomycin, and its carrier will be nylon which has beendrug and then release it over the next few days. The loaded nylon will be implanted in the lens capsthe scleral surface over the fistula in the form of a sheet.
