Research abstract

Triton systems, Inc, proposes a unique Triton Antireflective Abrasion Resistant coating ("TAAC") process that deposits a scratch/abrasion resistant antireflective team, is a total 2um thick coating for glass rigid plastic in advanced window (glazing) applications. This unique coating technology is currently being modified by Triton Systems, under U.S. Department of Transportation contract #DTRS-57-94-C-00003 for use sratch resistant, antireflective coating for "new" more complex, curve plastic automotive. "TAAC" is a durable, low-cost, high through-put, low temperature silicon based coating carefully engineeered to be chemically, physically, and optically compatible with plastic and glass substrates and effective antireflective and abrasion resistant coating. The Phase I effort will identify the key processing parameters and materials properties that must be addressed in order to arrive at a co-effective, successful coating. The Phase II effort will concentrate on process optimization, thickness uniformity, coating automation and manufacturing worthiness.
