Research abstract

This Phase II effort develops a comprehensive set of physics-based, predictive spectral signature, atmospheric and sensor effects tools advancing Night Vision simulation for both advanced concept studies and low-cost military training applications.Signature phenomenology advancements include advanced by-directional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) modeling, 3D finite-difference transient thermal modeling, and spectral light source modeling for Night Vision Goggle (NVG) simulation. RigorousEO/IR spectral signature synthesis is mapped for real-time rendering via current advancements in both high-end and low-cost COTS graphics hardware. The proposed sensor effects modeling software (SenSim 3.0) will provide for the physically crediblesimulation of EO/IR sensor effects, particularly NVG micro-channel plate (MCP)
