Research abstract

Drone attacks are a rising threat due to their low cost, stealth, and ability to bypass traditional defenses. This is evident in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where drones have caused widespread, unpredictable consequences. As adversaries expand their drone capabilities, the U.S. needs advanced countermeasures to ensure national security.AirShare’s OVERWATCH® system, now at TRL7, provides an effective solution with kinetic anti-drone technology. It deploys aerodynamically engineered airfoils to entangle and defeat Class 1, 2, and 3 drones at 25% of the cost of current solutions. With four patents, over 1,000 successful tests, and a 95% effectiveness rate, the system is compatible with commercial and military C2 systems.AirShare has secured $5M in contracts and a $905M sales pipeline. Supported by the U.S., Canada, and Jordan for military applications, OVERWATCH® has significant defense and civil market potential, expecting multiple major system (>$100M) sales in 2025 and 2026. During Phase I, AirShare will work closely with Security Forces Squadrons (SFS) and DAF Special Tactics Squadrons Special Operations Forces (SOF), including at Dyess AFB, to adapt the system for specific end-user needs, advancing it to TRL8.
