Research abstract

DAF bases contain extensive MRO processes requiring a large number and variety of Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE). AGE are often tracked on paper by technicians walking throughout the airfield—a time-consuming task. Having real-time visibility into the location and status of AGE greatly increases efficiency in managing repairs, scheduling inspections, and managing requests.Service Robotics & Technologies, Inc.’s (SRT’s) proposed solution is the M1 Platform, providing secure, real-time monitoring of AGE. The M1 integrates and controls fleets of legacy hardware, modern smart devices, and connected systems, allowing a manufacturer-agnostic approach for assets to be monitored, analyzed, and automated. The M1, deployed on IL4/IL5 cloud environments and combined with our expertise in IoT devices, will support DAF needs, streamlining processes to maintain warfighter readiness. SRT Labs proposes to develop custom capabilities on the M1 to integrate sensors that will monitor the status of equipment, allowing DAF to track AGE from anywhere. SRT Labs will identify a DAF Customer’s specific requirements and existing Infrastructure Layer, then unify these under the M1’s Data Layer, providing a single-pane-of-glass Application Layer. SRT’s commercial offering is at TRL 8; for this use case, the product is at TRL 2 reflecting the need to understand end-user requirements.  This solution aligns with the OUSD (R&E) Critical Technology Areas of Advanced Computing and Software and Integrated Network Systems-of-Systems.
