Research abstract
This proposal describes the development of an Antenna Design Framework that combines current analysis tools with a state-of- the-art optimizer to create high-performance design tools. The framework is modular in design to allow the incorporation of newoptimization algorithms and analysis tools, as they become available. This framework will enable the design of new antennas that meet stringent performance requirements beyond what is feasible with current technology. This proposal describes thedevelopment of an Antenna Design Framework, which increases the performance of current analysis tools by combining them with a state-of-the-art optimizer. The resulting systems become high-performance, automated design tools. When compared to the currentlyavailable tools for antenna design, the new tools will have much greater flexibility, better performance, and will drastically reduce the amount of time required to develop an optimal antenna design. This will be useful in the design and placement of alltypes of antenna systems, both for military and commercial users. Military uses include location and interaction studies on ships, aircraft, satellites, and fixed stations. Commercial uses include wireless network providers, broadcasters, and otherservices that can benefit from optimal antenna design and placement.
