Research abstract

LADAR systems require performance testing of the algorithms used for automatic target recognition. Benchtop tests would circumvent having to perform actual captive flight tests. A LADAR scene projector can be used to emulate a target and act as the test standard for the system. An electronically scanned, pulsed linear array with an adjustable time delay between elements is desired for this purpose. A linear array of individually addressable Q-switched microbic lasers operating at 1.06 microns is proposed. The microchip laser elements will operate pulsed with a computer-programmable time delay between elements to emulate target objects.
