Research abstract

"Protobox LLC proposes to develop an Embedded Simulator Test Evaluation Monitor (ESTEEM) to measure and optimize human interaction with simulation devices across DMT networks. ESTEEM is being developed so that researchers can understand the performance oftheir network simulations while they are being conducted. The proposed system will provide a tool that can correlate human performance interactions with simulations conducted on a network. The system can be located at a simulator to measure a singlesimulator's interactive performance with a human operator. Multiple ESTEEMs can be located at multiple sites on a network to deterministically measure interactive simulator performance. Rapid development of the Distributed Mission Training (DMT) networkhas outpaced researchers' capability to measure and verify its performance. With several high fidelity simulator systems slated for installation on the DMT network within the next few years, it is important that researchers have the tools to measure theperformance of the network, and of the end-to-end performance of the simulations. Full development of the multi-node version of the measurement device, will for the first time, enable researchers to understand the quality of their interactive simulationsas they are being executed. The proposed simulation tool will enable researchers to improve the quality of training and research that they conduct via network simulation. If the quality
