Research abstract

In AFWERX SBIR Phase I, We will refine and validate non-planar additive manufacturing (AM) constraints for optimized toolpath design based on AF end-user needs and demonstrate the feasibility of our algorithm to generate optimized non-planar toolpaths for 3D printed parts. In collaboration with Stratasys, Pratt & Whitney, and AFRL's Polymer Matrix Composites Branch, we will identify case studies demonstrating our algorithm's ability to align filaments for material and structural/acoustic requirements. We aim to create an affordable, agile, and scalable solution for AM parts, supporting the Air Force's vision for attrition-tolerant platforms and addressing challenges in designing high-performance additively manufactured aerospace components.
