Research abstract

Millitech is porposing a very practical and reliable antenna design that includes proven technologies. The proposed antenna is composed of a high efficiency reflector aperature with a planar rotating twist-reflector to provide the scanning in both Azimuth and Elevation planes. Many successful antenna concepts of a similar architecture have been developed and used in systems for many years. This technique has been proven to be very affordable as well as flexible in adapting to other frequencies and applications including high volume production systems While the RF performance risks are low, a substantial amount of development will be required to optimize the mechanical features (especially the electromechanical drive motion system) in an efficient and affordable manner. Tradeoffs must be made to balance the optimization of size, weight, cost, performance and producibility.
