Research abstract

The U.S. Air Force's energy needs are unmet by traditional systems in austere environments due to logistical challenges, security vulnerabilities, and growing demand for power across various applications. Meanwhile, as the Air Force pursues broad vehicle electrification, it is unprepared for the challenges associated with the power demands of such an endeavor. Intrinsic Power seeks to leverage its commercial innovations such as the ReNu100 to pave the way for the Ruggedized Power export Module (RPeM) - a mobile, ruggedized, and modular system to meet energy delivery requirements in austere conditions. The RPeM is a smart, ruggedized, mobile, low-cost, and modular energy management and distribution system that directly exports power from any tactical vehicle (hybridized or all-electric) to external loads. The RPeM offers users a mobile microgrid system for deploying in the field, utilizing EV batteries and solar energy generation as the primary energy sources. The RPeM offers a flexible and scalable power solution for austere environments, ensuring reliable energy for critical systems like weapon systems, field healthcare, EV charging, and more. By leveraging AI and advanced energy management software, the RPeM optimizes power flow, enabling the U.S. Air Force to maximize energy efficiency and reliability, whether deep in the field or at Air Force installation. This innovation reduces dependence on traditional fuel supply chains, enhances operational readiness, and contributes to energy sustainability. Intrinsic Power will be leveraging its relationships in the EV sector, its experience with developing energy systems, and its connections through its advisors and investors (Techstars, Plug and Play, etc.) to introduce its solution to the DoD and the private sector for disaster management, off-grid communities, EV support, and more.
