Research abstract

It has been known for many decades that traversing multiple time zones causes a misalignment of the body’s circadian rhythm. However, this does not explain the entirety of jet lag symptoms or their severity. Breakthrough research by Fount has identified that circadian disruption is complicated by an inflammatory response resulting from the rapid transition to and extended time spent in the lower-pressure, lower-oxygen environment of aircraft cabins.
