Research abstract

A feasibility study for a low-cost general purpose Spectral Correlation Analyzer (SCA) for laboratory use will be performed. The desired SCA will accept both analog and digital inputs, and will provide graphics and text output on a screen and for external storage. The SCA will include a flexible graphical user interface and will be especially user friendly. A system architecture that uses off-the-shelf hardware, including a host computer, will be designed and the hardware components will be specified in Phase I, but the software for the host computer will be written in Phase II. It is hoped that this feasibility study will lead to the first commercially available SCA for use in academic, industrial, and government laboratories.
