Research abstract

Mission Research Corporation (MRC), in cooperation with Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) researchers, is interested in developing a state-of-the-art computational electromagnetics (CEM) modeling package designed to accurately and efficiently predict the radiation properties of planar, singly, or doubly curved conformal antennas on complex treated or untreated platforms. The key antenna modeling technology, to be devloped during Phase I of the SBIR, involves expanding MRC's current state-of-the-art finite element (FE) technology and demonstrating our ability to model curved surface conformal antennas including doubly curved antennas. This will allow the simulation of conformal antennas such as printed patches, slots and eventually spirals as well as their associated feed network. This will involve a logical extension of MRC's previous cutting-edge efforts in conformal antenna analysis and this SBIR will have access to MRC's experienced research staff as well as JPL's experienced staff.
